Rufus is a Royal Gummi and I adopted him from the Gummi Bear Adoption Agency on the same day I got Audrey and Evelyn.
Like most kids his ages, Rufus wants everything now - this second. If told he can't have something right away, he'll start nagging and demanding to know why he can't have it. I've tried reasoning with him, but, at his age, all kids are interested in is flexing their muscles and making everyone jump at their command. So I've turned to that old standby of saying: "Because I say so" if he starts to get too demanding.
He gets along well with his siblings, including Paula and Vince. When I first adopted Paula, he was a little put-out by the fact that he was no longer the baby and responded by hitting his new sister whenever he saw her. He learned to accept her in the end, though, and, while he has been a little jealous of Vince, he's never resorted to physical violence with him.
It's hard to believe Rufus is now nearly three. He was so young when I adopted him that he couldn't even sit up unaided and he spent most of his time sleeping. Now, however, he is a lively toddler, always getting into mischief.
I've been redecorating all the kids' rooms using wallpaper from Pat's Web Graphics.
Here are Rufus' favourite toys - a sailboat, a rocking horse, a teddy bear, a bubble pipe (with non-toxic bubble liquid) and a set of blocks. He really enjoys the bubble pipe, although he does have a habit of spilling bubble liquid down his front.
Rufus has just transferred to a bed - and he feels pretty grown up about it. The bed is plain varnished wood, same as his old cot, and the chest of drawers is the same style as Feryl's.
