Yumi and Zinnia (Yumi's on the left and Zinnia's on the right) are Ice Lunatac twin sisters. I met them at the Adamante Orphanage, but they were previously at another orphanage where the staff were found to be ill-treating the children. That orphanage has now been closed and Adamante are looking for homes for the Thunderian, Mutant and Lunatac children rescued from it.
They are now much more open than they were before. Zinnia in particular has lost a lot of her old shyness. When I first adopted them, she was excessively timid as a result of the oppressive atmosphere she was raised in, but she has now learned that she can laugh, raise her voice and generally act like a normal kid without fear of reprisals. She may never have the powers of an Ice Lunatac, but, aside from that, she is perfectly normal.
Yumi, meanwhile, is now finding it easier to separate from her twin, although she is still a little protective of Zinnia. I suspect this is a result of the mild brain damage which caused Zinnia to lose her powers. Whatever the reason, Yumi was initially reluctant to leave Zinnia on her own - Zinnia didn't mind too much because she was then very emotionally dependent on her twin. For as long as either of them could remember, they only had each other.
Lately, I've been reading up on Lunatac culture (Ice Lunatacs in particular) and it seems that theirs is a society which is deeply intolerant of those who "don't make the grade". For example, there is a rare mutation which can occur among Lunatacs and results in genderless offspring with white hair and skin and no special powers; these Generic Lunatacs are widely seen as "inferior" and are frequently used as slave labour. So I doubt Zinnia, with her lack of Ice powers, could ever fit into Lunatac society. Attempts have been made to educate Lunatacs about the need for tolerance, but these prejudices run deep.
The wallpaper in Yumi and Zinnia's room is from Pat's Web Graphics. Yumi chose the heart design because she wanted herself and Zinnia to be "surrounded with love"
These are Yumi and Zinnia's favourite things. The toy fish, hula hoop, spaceboard and female action figure are Yumi's and the Ice Lunatac doll, flute, hoverbike and male action figure belong to Zinnia. They also have a yoyo each - Yumi's is the one with the crescent moon Lunatac symbol and Zinnia's is the purple one.
